Grant Opportunity to Launch School Salad Bar Program

The National Council of Fruit and Vegetable Nutrition Coordinators is pleased to announce a grant program to support state Fruit and Vegetable Nutrition Coordinators in their work to help launch school salad bar programs. The purpose of this grant program is two pronged:
1) Gather experiences from state health agencies and their partners on ways to increase salad bars in schools which may impact fruit and vegetable access and consumption, and
2) Gain a greater understanding of the Fruit and Vegetable Nutrition Coordinators’ role and training needs in supporting the salad bars to schools campaign.
This grant program will contribute to the work of the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools! initiative.

School Gardens in Progress

Burgess Elementary School in Myrtle Beach, SC is underway with their community garden. The students have recieved help from their teachers and volunteers while preparing the beds and planting fruits and vegetables. The students also planted our State Vegetable, Collard Greens!
