Make your gardening experience good for your skin too!

The American Academy of Dermatology's shade structure program awards grants in the amount of $8,000 each for the purchase of permanent shade structures designed to provide shade and ultraviolet (UV) ray protection for outdoor areas. The AAD also provides a permanent sign to be displayed near the shade structure that promotes the importance of sun safety. The AAD receives support for this program from Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Co.

Story Book Painting Party!



Come out to the Carolina Children's Garden for a special Winnie the Pooh themed story book themed Painting Party!

This great event will feature such fun extras as a petting zoo, beekeeper, story time, art projects, games and refreshments!

SC Farm to School Workshop... and Beyond!


Please join us for a workshop hosted by the SC Food Policy Council that addresses the Farm to School potential in SC.

The discussion will focus on the current Farm to School projects in SC and where the future of Farm to School is headed. The goal of the workshop is to explore opportunities to expand and improve Farm to School Programs throughout the state, and even beyond schools to other similar institutions such as Hospitals, Universities, Employers, etc. While the majority of the day will be dedicated to presentations, participants will have the opportunity to form focus groups in order to brain storm new ideas in order to work actively towards a Farm to School future that directly enhances the lives of South Carolinians.

The event will be held Thursday April 28th, 2011, at the Phillips Market Center at the State Farmers Market.
